OpenBookTutorials developed a registration website for Sustainable Meetings and Events: BS-8901 First Event Standard in the World in conjunction with Beverly Oviedo, Sustainable Solutions By Design, and California State University, Chico.

CSU, Chico students planned a sustainable event to demonstrate their commitment to sustainable event management and became recognized for being the first university class in North America to be audited and certified by the British Standards Institute for meeting the criteria of BS8901. This project fostered student learning, and created awareness in the community of the benefits of BS-8901 standards, ensuring a balanced approach to decision-making for economic benefits, environmental stewardship and social responsibility. Students in the class, RECR 498, at California State University, Chico have raised the standard for sustainable meetings and events on campus and nationally.
